Scrubbing the Floor with the Tennant T5 Floor Scrubber

The Tennant T5 is a high-performance floor scrubber designed for efficiency and ease of use. This model features ec-H2O™ technology, which electrically converts plain water into an effective cleaning solution, eliminating the need for traditional chemicals. Follow this guide to ensure a professional clean while maintaining the longevity of the equipment.

1. Pre-Operation Inspection

Before starting your shift, perform a quick visual check. Safety and equipment integrity come first.

  • Battery Status: Ensure the battery discharge indicator shows a full charge.

  • Squeegee Check: Look at the rear squeegee blade. It should be clean and free of tears.

  • Debris Check: Ensure the floor has been swept. Large debris can clog the vacuum system.

Because this unit uses ec-H2O™ technology, the filling process is simplified.

  1. Locate the Solution Tank: This is the front tank.

  2. Fill with Water: Fill the tank with clean, cool water (not exceeding 60°C).

  3. No Chemicals: Do not add detergents or floor cleaners. The ec-H2O™ system handles the cleaning power. Adding chemicals can damage the specialized electrodes in the system.

The T5 is designed to be intuitive. Follow these steps to begin cleaning:

  • Power On: Turn the key to the ‘on’ position.

  • Activate ec-H2O: Ensure the ec-H2O switch is engaged (the light should be green during operation).

  • Lower the Scrub Head: Press the scrub head button on the control panel. The brushes will automatically lower to the floor.

  • Lower the Squeegee: Use the manual lever to lower the rear squeegee. This will automatically engage the vacuum motor to suck up the water.

  • Begin Cleaning: Squeeze the triggers on the handle. The machine is self-propelled; simply guide it forward at a steady walking pace.

To prevent odors and ensure the machine is ready for the next user, proper “takedown” is required.

  1. Drain the Recovery Tank: Move the machine to a floor drain. Use the black drain hose to empty the dirty water.

  2. Rinse the “Hygiene” Tank: Open the recovery tank lid and rinse the interior thoroughly. This prevents bacteria buildup and foul smells.

  3. Clean the Vacuum Screen: Remove and rinse the debris tray and the cylindrical filter screen located inside the recovery tank.

  4. Wipe the Squeegee: Use a damp cloth to wipe the rubber blades of the rear squeegee.

  5. Charge: Plug the machine into the designated charging station in the North Warehouse Logistics Area to ensure it is ready for the next cleaning.

  • Solid Green Light: System is working correctly.

  • Flashing Red Light: The ec-H2O™ module has encountered an error or the water flow is blocked.

  • Solution: If the red light persists, tag the machine and notify Logistics.
