Jack Smith Pre-Approve $4K Used Sheet Metal Brake for Metal Shop Pre-Approve $4K Used Sheet Metal Brake for Metal Shop Sheet Metal Brakes are useful and the current Brake is not great. A New Brake is costly, but they can be obtained much cheaper used. The issue is that used items often move faster than the DMS financial approvals.
Metal shop would like to get Pre-Approved to purchase up to $4k of a used Brake. They will then monitor the used market to find and quickly purchase one when found. Per Metal Shop Meetings:
https://source.dallasmakerspace.org/display/METAL/Metal+Shop+Meeting-2022-11-05 Clarifications: > Purchase might not be quickly, it will be based on the type of brake, cost, and distance. > Good point, I'll clarify it's to enable quick DMS financial approval purchase after possibly long/unknown time to find a used machine

Jay Phelps INFRA Purchase of 3 refurb dell servers for VMWare nodes $5500 +/- 10% Onsite compute optimization and cleanup is a priority of ourse The current onsite systems environment has evolved over many years and is fragmented and badly out of date. To address this we've obtained a 3 node VMWare Essentials license package and now need to obtain 3 servers to apply this to and create a local VSphere environment to consolidate our existing workloads and support new workloads for both internal and class room use cases.
We're targeting 3 used + refurbished Dell R730's with storage and 384GB of ram each. We'll also be purchasing rails and cable management appropriate for these systems. The servers are approximately $1600 each + the accessories and shipping.
We'll purchase and expense these via eBay marketplace.

MOTION: To Approve the purchase of 3 servers as written.

Jay Phelps Completing HVAC work and obtaining ongoing maintenance We have 3 INOP units and a need for more aggressive ongoing maintenance beyond filter replacement I'm obtaining updated quotes from RDRC on the pending work and some options on maintenance. I envision retaining the current agreement on filter changes though I'd like to obtain more details on that arrangement.

No Motion - nothing to approve on the topic at this time.
