Kobin Caddick Vote to unlock $15,000 for Science Lab fume hood installation Funds for the fume hood were approved in June 2022, but the budgeting landscape has changed so we're seeking re-approval Funds were approved in June 2022 for up to $15,000 to install a roof mounted exhaust fan: https://source.dallasmakerspace.org/display/Board/2022-06-15+Board+Meeting Fund allocation was conditional on landlord and city approval.
  • The city of Carrollton recently granted a permit for the mechanical work to be performed.
  • The landlord approved the project in Dec 2022.
The mechanical contractor (MGC, Inc) is requesting a down payment of 50% (about $6,500) to order the exhaust stack and blower. These items have a 10-12 week lead time so the remainder of the balance would be due upon completion of the installation around December 2023 or January 2024. Alternatively we can waive the down payment by filling out a credit application.
MOTION to re-approve up to $15k for the fume hood in the current budget ($6.5k in Oct 2023, and $8.5k in Dec/Jan)
